About Ian

Ian’s expertise in messaging and content development helps mission-driven organizations elevate ideas and shape narratives that influence public discourse. As lead writer and editor at Collaborative, he directs the creation of high-impact publications, digital assets, and campaign messaging that support clients’ goals for systems change and expanding opportunities for young people and families. He also provides strategic counsel on long-term public engagement efforts, particularly those related to college access and attainment.

Over the past decade, Ian has led the development of books, research and policy briefs, advocacy websites, and thought leadership pieces for non-profit executives. Earlier in his career, Ian conducted research and analysis for K-12 and higher education institutions, supporting data-informed solutions to operational and policy challenges.

Ian holds a master’s degree in humanities from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Virginia. He is an alumnus of the Education Policy Fellowship Program and a founding editor of an interdisciplinary arts and culture journal.
