About Elizabeth

Liz has more than two decades of experience at the nexus of public policy, communications, and media. She has worked as a policy and communications consultant to foundations, public agencies, and nonprofits on a range of issues with a focus on supporting equity outcomes for children and families.

Liz has built statewide public education campaigns, advocated for the passage of local, state, and federal legislation, coordinated broad-based coalitions for collective action, and has fashioned and refashioned brands and websites for impact. Liz served as the vice president of advocacy for Common Sense Media; the managing editor at the national investigative news outlet Mother Jones; and as a policy analyst at the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth, and Their Families.

Liz graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in biological anthropology, and earned a master’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
