The Department of Defense Education Activity

Overview

Department of Defense Education Activity's (DoDEA) mission is to plan, direct, coordinate, and manage the education programs for eligible dependents of U.S. military personnel and civilian personnel of the Department of Defense. DoDEA provides an exemplary education that inspires and prepares all students for success in a dynamic, global environment.

Our Relationship

Collaborative provides the Department of Defense Education Activity with research, writing, and publication production expertise. Collaborative serves as lead researcher, writer, and designer for a comprehensive print and online guide, for the Department of Defense Education Activity. The guide will assist multiple sectors to support military children's educational transition.

Collaborative produced Students at the Center, a guide to help military families, military leaders, and school leaders understand the hurdles faced during a child’s educational transition. It contains information on school choice, Impact Aid, No Child Left Behind, and a number of other critical resources. In addition, Collaborative assisted in the development of a Web site that will bring elements of the print publication online for easier access, including links to valuable resources. The publication and Web site will be available in April 2009, and is the latest effort of educational support for families and communities from the Collaborative team.
